Pamela Gray Payton

Pamela Gray Payton is the assistant vice president for the Office of Public Affairs at the University of San Diego.  Appointed in 2003, Gray Payton works closely with the president, vice president of University Relations and other senior administrators to develop and implement strategic public relations strategies that advance the university's mission.  Gray Payton's team is responsible for media relations, web communications, social media utilization and community and government affairs. As the chief university spokesperson, she is responsible for issues management, crisis planning and communications.  Gray Payton coordinates and manages the university's presence at community-wide events intended to strengthen the university's reputation as a valued community partner.  Before assuming the assistant vice president role, Gray Payton served as the university's Community and Government Relations director.  An active member of the campus community, Gray Payton serves as a founding member of the Changemaker Hub Core Group and is the co-founder and co-director of the Black Student Retention and Recognition Committee.
