Ashoka recently named Arizona State University an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus, making it the ninth institution selected for setting the standard for excellence in social entrepreneurship education. This is a group of institutions committed to providing students with the tools they need to make an impact and pursue what they believe in. The photo above depicts the light rail train in Phoenix, outfitted with banners that promote ASU as Changemaker Campus.

As part of this fellowship of learning institutions, ASU faculty, staff and students will benefit from Ashoka’s training, networks, program templates and proven best practices to advance the university community’s social entrepreneurship efforts in six areas of campus activity: teaching; research; applied learning; resources; role models; and community/culture.

At ASU, social entrepreneurship programs are steadily growing. During last year’s Innovation Challenge, for example, more than 90 student teams submitted ideas for how they can innovatively solve local and global challenges and have a lasting social impact on our world.
