“Ashoka has been the primary source of knowledge and networking for social entrepreneurs across the world over the past two decades. Their platform is ideal for catalyzing a campus movement.”

The Changemaker Campus initiative is about culture change across higher education. Each Changemaker Campus is selected based on unique institutional strengths in social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and changemaking education, as well as a deep investment in the transformation of higher education.
By attaining the Changemaker Campus designation, your institution demonstrates a commitment to the university’s pivotal role in driving social innovation.
- Changemaker Campuses take advantage of a rapidly growing trend in higher education, therefore serving as an effective differentiating factor from competitors: Majors, Minors, Centers and programs in social entrepreneurship have grown up to 77 from only 35 in 2008.
- Changemaker Campuses attract innovative and entrepreneurial faculty and staff: There are more than 500 faculty teaching or researching social entrepreneurship, an increase from 350 in 2008.
Changemaker Campuses respond to growing student demand and can therefore support recruitment and retention:
- 79% of today’s undergraduates say they want to work for employers who care about how they impact/contribute to society.
- 74% of undergraduates envision themselves as leaders who will improve the world’s social or environmental challenges.
Changemaker Campuses build on, expand, and “update” institutional commitments to civic engagement and services learning, which increasingly aligns with trends in higher education funder priorities:
- Given the growth of CSR, impact investing, and funding for social entrepreneurs, funders are now looking to support a pipeline of future social entrepreneurs and changemakers.
