“We have taken a multi-stakeholder approach to program development. The program strives to serve students and young professionals, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors with different and compelling value propositions. So, it is not just an education program or capacity development program, at least in traditional terms. It is both. We see the Frontier Market Scouts Program playing a useful role in the social entrepreneurial ecosystems in capital-starved regions and sectors by mobilizing human capitals.”

Frontier Market Scouts

The Frontier Market Scouts (FMS) is a non-profit, award-winning certificate training and fellowship program which advances purpose-driven careers by coaching and training impact-fueled professionals for careers in social venture management and impact investing. FMS instructors are active and successful professionals who work with leading organizations including the Cordes Foundation, Omidyar Network, Calvert Foundation, Accion Venture Lab, Unreasonable Group, Pi Investments, and Colorado Capital. After completing the intensive 2-week certificate training in social enterprise management and impact investing, FMS participants have the opportunity to become candidates for full-time fellowship positions with social enterprises, business accelerator programs, and impact funds around the world.

Launched in January 2011, FMS has trained more than 300 participants and placed more than 100 fellows with small and growing businesses in Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, Turkey, the United States, and Venezuela.
