University of Evansville Changemaker Campus

At the University of Evansville (UE), approximately 2200 students from 55 countries and 44 states experience a distinctive curriculum built on great ideas, timeless themes, significant questions and multiple perspectives. UE recognizes today’s complex challenges do not come in neat disciplinary packages and cannot be solved in isolation. Collaboration and innovation are essential, and UE provides ample opportunity for students to develop these skills. Curricular and co-curricular programs are designed to introduce students at all levels to social challenges and to provide the support for them to innovate and create solutions in interdisciplinary teams. UE works in strong partnership with the Evansville community to address local problems and encourages changemaking globally at our study abroad program Harlaxton College in the U.K. and through partnerships around the world.

Ideas to make the world a better place can come from students, staff, faculty, or community members, and we work to support them through vehicles such as:

  • The Center for Innovation & Change: A resource for students, faculty, businesses, non-profits, and other community partners to adopt a future orientation and to innovate for a more just, prosperous, and sustainable world.
  • ChangeLab: A program for students innovate and collaborate on interdisciplinary teams to create positive change in the community.
  • Changemaker Challenge Programs: Pitch competitions designed to motivate people to identify and solving challenges in the world around them through innovation and creativity. Our high school competition awards full tuition scholarships to winning teams, and our community competition connects innovators with resources to implement their ideas.
  • Changemaker Incubator: A physical space on campus for people to exchange ideas, connect with mentors, collaborate with community partners, and innovate for impact.
  • Ethics and Social Change Major: a major that combines academic study with field experience in order to equip students to address complex problems in local communities and the world.
  • Catalysts for Change leadership program, a Changemaker Residence Hall, abundant service learning opportunities, a variety of international opportunities for changemaking, and much more.

Changemakers at UE are supported by a rich ecosystem for social innovation and guided by Ashoka’s Everyone a ChangemakerTM vision. For more information, visit:
