Building Community and Capacity for Collective Efficacy
Background
Since its inception in 2014, the Change Leader Retreat provides space exclusively for Change Leaders at Changemaker Campuses to connect, discuss network-wide updates and strategy, and seed opportunities for collaborations. It is focused on fostering internal connection among Changemaker Campuses. It also provides a space to solidify the identity of Change Leaders and Changemaker Campuses.
2024 Retreat Overview
In 2024, the event will be hosted by Ashoka U Changemaker Campus Fordham University. It will take place in New York City, NY June 5-7, 2024. Sessions will focus on building individual capacity (for Change Leaders, for students), and on building the capacity of your teams, communities, and institutions.
2024 Theme: Building Community and Capacity for Collaborative Efficacy
In our everything-changing world, it is essential that we find partners, allies, and communities to support changemaking efforts. Effective changemakers know that their best strategy for success is helping others to identify as changemakers. Changemaker Campuses are uniquely positioned to carry out this strategy.
Campuses employ thousands of changemaking faculty and staff and graduate millions of changemakers. Campuses partner with key institutions in their ecosystems (businesses, NGOs, school districts, media, faith communities) to build up changemaking capacity in each of these institutions. Campuses are key to activating and accelerating Changemaking EcosystemsTM so that everyone within is able to realize their changemaking capacity and collectively and effectively create the change they want to see in the world.
The 2024 Change Leader Retreat will provide opportunities for Change Leaders to further develop individual capacity to create change as well as capacity across entire campus ecosystems. Workshops and networking events will provide opportunities to learn from fellow Change Leaders as well as to build allies and partners with others in related fields.
This year, the Change Leader Retreat will take place in conjunction with Transforming Business Education Week. Throughout the retreat some events will be shared with those participating in other, related events. Our hope is that through some shared sessions, meals, and coffee breaks you can develop meaningful connections with others and appreciate the growing global community of those dedicated to building a world where everyone is a changemaker!
