High Level Roundtable Discussion

Overview

High Level Roundtable Discussion

Capacity-building to Transform Higher Education

The higher education sector should play a key role in helping the world achieve the SDGs and to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. However, faculty, staff, and institutions are not yet equipped to play this role.

The sector must be transformed: Programs and institutions must shift from their current hierarchical, insular, and change-adverse ways of operating towards models that embrace diverse perspectives, are interconnected, and are agile.

Alongside the World Bank Annual Meeting, this high-level roundtable discussion brought together innovative systems-changers at the forefront of this transformation. We explored existing solutions and resources to re-train and inspire faculty, to lead institutional and ecosystems change, and to collectively re-imagine the future of higher education.

The goals of this convening were to “identify and create synergistic collaborations to build the capacity of higher education stakeholders and create systemic change.”
